Enforce immigration laws - The Reporter

Regarding a news report ("Bills can aid immigrants," Aug. 28): Gov. Brown must do as he said when he was running for governor. All illegals are to be deported, even though he backtracked by signing a bill to give illegal residents money to go to college and stay here and take American jobs.

I want to make it clear: I am not against legal immigration. That's what makes this country great. As near as it has been determined, my forefather immigrated in the 1700s.

President Obama ordered his administration to stop enforcing immigration laws. "It's the right thing to do," he said. But it was illegal. Only Congress can make laws. I am sure 23 million out-of-work Americans disagree with Obama's decision to stop enforcing immigration laws.

An analogy from law professor John Yoo: What if President Obama or Gov. Brown abolished all taxes and declared amnesty for anyone refusing to pay? That would be a constitutional crisis and a subversion of clear, written law. President Obama lamented this fact last year, admitting he "can't just change the law unilaterally," yet he changed his mind to get re-elected

It is said that only 49 percent of college graduates have found full-time jobs. So, Gov. Brown must not sign any more bills aiding illegal immigrants who are here breaking our laws. American citizens must come first. San Francisco Assemblyman Tom Ammiano seems to say that illegals should be first to taxpayer money. As my dad always said, follow the money. Who is

making money off of the illegals here breaking our laws?

It used to be that those wanting to become a citizen of the United State needed a sponsor who would see that they had housing and a job and learned English. Then they would have to pass a test in English. Now it seems the only requirement is to get across the border by hook or crook.
